Naomi's Kitchen-kinda long...sorry

This happened actually a few weeks ago, I'm just slow on posting it. It goes like this: Deric's sister, Naomi, had a kitchen. A very partical board made cabinets, beat to pieces, kitchen. We were out there one weekend and Deric was looking at it and said, "Naom, you need new cabinets". Naomi, of couse, agreed but said they couldn't afford it. Deric thought he could make her a kitchen for around $2,000 and told her to start saving and that he could probably do it around Christmas time. So an agreement was made, Deric would build her new cabinets and countertops, re-design her kitchen and have it finished by Christmas time. haha oh the tricks my husband had up his sleeve.....This is her kitchen as they were tearing it out to put the new one in...but you can tell, it's pretty old. So on with the rest of the story.... Deric had decided he wanted to surprise Naomi with this kitchen (she had full confidence in him and so let him take over the whole design, layout, color, wood type, etc). He actually was building it all through May in hopes of having it finished by her anniversary in June. The kitchen was finished being built and was just ready to install. We made plans to go to Roosevelt the weekend of her anniversary and Deric informed his mom and I that it was our job to keep Naomi out of her house for 2 days. Ya right...she lives like 15 minutes away from Deric's parents' house. Anyway, we came up with a full-proof plan:or so we thought. We were going to plan a "Girls Weekend" and have all of the girls in the family come out, no guys allowed! They were all going to have a "Guys Weekend" up at Naomi's house. Wahoo! We figured it out! So Deric and Jason (his brother) loaded up the cabinets in Jason's work van (surprisingly they all fit) and we headed out to Roosevelt. We didn't want Naomi even seeing Jason's van or she would be suspicious, so we parked it on the backroads and Jason jumped in with us and we drove to their parents house where Naomi was already (we had to wait for her to get there and she took FOREVER). So soon after we arrived, Deric and Jason left...too much women talk I guess. And the plan was in action. After 2 days of long, hard gruesome pampering, some shopping, lots of junk food, girl talk and a few close calls, we finally allowed Naomi to go home. (saying we were going to crash the guys' party before we went shopping). And this is what she walked in to.....
She was COMPLETELY shocked and had NO idea they were installing this kitchen the whole time. So the rest of the story goes like this....Deric told Naomi (in a not so subtle way) that he needed what money she had already saved up to pay for the cabinets since his work just paid for it. She handed over like $1100 and said she would pay him the rest as soon as she got it. He counted it out and handed like $600 back and told her it was her change. She was so confused! So really what happened was that some of Deric's family pitched in and paid for most of her kitchen-she had NO idea! So really, Naomi got a brand new, estimated worth of $15,000-$18,000 kitchen for around $500! She got to use the rest of the money to buy new stainless steel appliances! These pictures totally don't do the kitchen justice-it looks AMAZING! I'm so proud of my husband! :) It was so awesome to see the look on her face when she saw all of these! It was totally worth having Deric work LONG hours and never being home to get it done for it to be a surprise for her! I'm so grateful to have married such an amazing man that would do ANYTHING for anyone, especially his family!

It's OFFICIAL!

So as many of you have heard: We are moving! It has been up in the air as to where we are moving however, because Deric and I both felt the strong impression we were supposed to move out to Roosevelt. We tried a while back to move out there- Deric went to the VC school to see if he could get a job helping in the cabinet shop: We were told they don't have the budget. So we kinda pushed it aside and decided we were probably just looking for answers and that our answers weren't really from the Lord. Then some stuff happened with our landlords recently and Deric said he felt like he wanted to move to Roosevelt. So, we tried again. This time, Deric went to Basin Wholesale (his family runs it) and asked for a job. We thought there was no way that he wouldn't get it so we got all excited, turned in our notice to our landlords and were just waiting to see if he officially got the job. News comes-he didn't get it: they dont have the budget. So Deric and I are finally getting really irritated. Me especially. We both have this strong feeling we're supposed to move out there and we've tried twice-with no success. Deric's sister, Naomi, told me that maybe it's not working out because we're supposed to hold out for something better. Long story short, her friend's husband owned a cabinet shop. She called them and they agreed to meet with Deric for an interview. It took us, like oh... maybe .02 seconds to decide we were packing up once again to head out there for the weekend and low and behold...... HE GOT THE JOB!!!! So, we will be moving to Roosevelt. We have decided to move in with his parents because the house market is still going down out there. Then we want to buy a house. We will be leaving the middle of July! WAHOO! :) If you couldn't tell.... I'm SO stoked!

We're Moving!!!

YAY! WE ARE MOVING! Where we are moving to is still up in the air, but we are moving out of our current apartment and I couldn't be happier! We love our landlords/friends and have been really grateful for them to share their home with us, but it is just time to get out of this basement apartment. The past 6 months have been hard to live here due to some instances with our landlords and the way they treat us, so it's a complete blessing that we're moving. We are keeping our fingers crossed that Deric gets the job he applied for at Basin Wholesale in Roosevelt. We should know by the end of the week! If not, we're heading back to Ephraim or on to Cedar!

~CuTe As CaN bE!~

They're here! I picked up Kyler's 6-month old pictures today! I think they turned out pretty darn cute! There were so many cute ones to choose from it was really hard. Deric and I decided to get more full-body shots as compared to his 3 month old pictures. We did get a 10X10 with one big picture and three on the side that's really cute but when I went to pick it up, it was WAY dark and it looked like his name was "Kyle". They couldn't fix the name, so it's no longer on there, but they are printing it lighter! I won't get that one for a few weeks now though. :( Oh well...so goes life! ENJOY!

Just thought I would share some recent photos of Kyler. His 6 month pictures turned out SO cute! I'll post them once I actually get them. They come in on Thursday! Oh how I love my little boy! He has been sick recently, but thank goodness is doing so much better!

New Couch Set!

Memorial Day weekend wasn't too extremely fun. Deric worked almost the entire weekend so Kyler and I just played at home. We were able to take lunch to Deric at the shop, but that was about it. Anyway, Memorial Day last year is when we bought our refridgerator at RC Willey's for a really great deal. Deric decided he wanted to just go and "look" to see what they had. He has been in this spending mood lately so I didn't really want to go. We have been saving for a new couch set for a few months now,but barely had $475 to spend, so I didn't think we would find it worth our time to go. I was afraid we would go, find something we love, but couldn't afford and then either spend money we don't have or just be disappointed. But,we went anyway. It wasn't 10 minutes after we walked in the door that we were signing paperwork for a new couch set! We walked past the clearance section and there were these 2 salesmen looking at this couch and loveseat saying how the price had to be wrong and they were going to go get a manager to up the price. Well we looked at the set, and really liked it. That day, any piece of furniture was 25% off as well. The price seemed to be something we could actually afford! The salesman told us he would give us the price it was listed at but if we didn't get it, he was going to have it priced higher. He went to ring the set up and it rang up as $1280! Totally not something we could afford! But guess how much we paid.... a whopping $350 for the set! (plus $90 for the 3 year warranty and scotch guard protection). But it was under our budget! YAY! It's a dark brown microfiber set and we LOVE it! It is really comfy and has big pillows! Plus we can cuddle better on these ones! :) Here are a few pictures although they're not very good... but we were excited!!!

Deric and I had a hard time believing we bought them, we had no intention of buying anything. haha Jason was with us and he just laughed at us the whole time cause Deric and I kept saying to each other, "I can't believe we just bought a couch set". Good times!
